About

I have always been a creative. I have written stories since I can remember. My Grandparents on my mother’s side were both extremely creative. My grandfather a carpenter once was fired from a construction job because he made animal designs in stucco walls in a hotel he was building. He finally ended up working at a residential community for people with disabilities adapting medical devices to suit the patient’s needs. My grandmother was a seamstress working in a shirt factory when my mother was young and then eventually stayed at home. She supplemented their income by making and selling mostly sewn and crocheted items. She, however, was always trying out new gadgets; this was pre-internet, pre-Pinterest pre any type of social sharing. She would get Annie’s Attic Magazines and Mary Maxim Catalogs, something on the back pages would interest her and she would order it. I don’t remember when we started doing craft shows I just remember always doing them. Spending Saturdays, sitting outside usually, at one venue or another our table was not the sleek, color coordinated trendy booths that are all the rage. Ours was a hodge-podge of crafts from anyone in the family that wanted to make something. Nothing we made was ever not good enough to go on the table for sale. My grandparents have since passed away but they gave me one of the greatest gifts, a love for the created.
